Islands that make bigger waves…

Earth Observatory– When a tsunami forms, why do some places get hit harder than others?  A rougher seafloor and the presence of islands can focus part of the waves and make them more intense.  Researchers had suspected that this might be the case, but observed it for the first time during the March 2011 tsunami that originated in Japan.
