The Max-Planck Institute– The Dead Sea isn’t devoid of life, and it isn’t stagnant. But SCUBA divers have recently discovered that there’s much more going on down there than previously realized. Freshwater springs replenish the water body from below, and a rich diversity of microbes flourishing around those springs have been stumbled upon.
Why care? The Dead Sea is, in fact, dying. The river feeding it was long ago was diverted for drinking water, and the lake is drying up.
